Men’s Navy Jackets & Coats

Navy is one of the few colours that works as hard as the men who wear it, equally at home on a country walk as it is on a Monday morning commute. At Jack Murphy, our men’s navy coats and jackets bring that versatility to timeless outerwear, cut from waxed cotton, wool tweed, quilted fabric and fully waterproof cloth.

Our navy range spans heritage wax jackets, wool coats, quilted gilets and technical waterproof styles, each designed in Ireland and built using materials chosen for durability as much as for looks. Whether you need a jacket for dog walking, the school run or a coat that will see you through a shoot day, navy remains the shade that never looks out of place.

Every piece in this collection is designed to be worn for years rather than a single season, with practical detailing such as waterproof taped seams, adjustable hoods and quilted linings that hold up to daily use whilst keeping the classic navy finish looking sharp.

A Navy Jacket for Every Occasion

For everyday wear, the Archie Wax Jacket pairs a classic waxed cotton finish with a relaxed fit, whilst the Ronan Quilted Jacket and Conor Quilted Gilet offer a lighter layer for milder days. For smarter occasions, the Owen Wool Coat in Deep Navy Melton and Sean Tweed Coat in Deep Navy Melton bring a tailored finish that works over a shirt and tie as easily as it does with jeans.

Built From Trusted Materials

Our navy wax jackets use the same waxed cotton found across our wax jacket range, chosen for how naturally it resists wind and light rain whilst developing character over time. For wetter days, styles such as the Rockall, Michael, Lambourne and Kingston waterproof jackets and coats draw on the same construction as our wider waterproof jackets and coats, fully taped and sealed against the weather.

Practical Details That Last

Navy shows less forgiveness for poor finishing than lighter colours, so we pay close attention to the details on every piece, from the Alex Wool Duffle Coat in Navy to the Emmet Waterproof Long Coat. Adjustable cuffs, secure fastenings and fully lined interiors are standard across the range, so each jacket or coat continues to perform long after the first wear.

What makes navy a good colour for a men’s jacket or coat?

Navy sits between black and lighter neutrals, making it easy to pair with most of your existing wardrobe. It reads as smart without being overly formal, which is why it works equally well for casual and slightly dressier occasions.

Are Jack Murphy’s navy jackets for men waterproof?

Some are. Our navy wax jackets are water-resistant rather than fully waterproof, whilst styles from our waterproof range, including the Rockall, Michael, Lambourne and Kingston, are built with taped seams for full protection in sustained rain.

Can a navy wax jacket be worn for smart occasions?

A navy wax jacket leans casual, so it suits everyday wear over a jacket for smarter events such as the Owen or Sean tweed coats in Deep Navy Melton, which offer a more tailored silhouette.

How do I care for a navy wool coat?

Wool and tweed coats should be brushed regularly to keep the fabric looking fresh, and dry cleaned rather than machine washed. Waxed cotton pieces should be sponge cleaned and re-waxed periodically rather than laundered.

Is navy a good match with other colours?

Yes. Navy pairs naturally with cream, tan, grey and most denim shades, which is part of why it remains one of our most requested colourways across jackets and coats.

Which navy jacket is best for everyday wear?

For daily use, a quilted style such as the Ronan Quilted Jacket or Conor Quilted Gilet offers warmth without bulk, whilst the Archie Wax Jacket suits those who want a more classic countryside look.
