Built for Changing Weather

Every fabric in this collection has been selected for its ability to perform in real conditions throughout the seasons. Waxed cotton naturally resists wind and showers, whilst waterproof styles offer dependable protection during prolonged rainfall and unsettled days. Wool tweed provides breathable warmth and natural water resistance and insulation, making it especially well suited to cooler weather. The result is outerwear that feels practical, comfortable and ready for whatever the forecast brings.

Heritage Materials That Last

Exceptional outerwear begins with exceptional materials, which is why we work with respected heritage mills including Halley Stevensons, Abraham Moon & Sons and traditional Donegal weavers. These fabrics are chosen for their quality, durability, character and timeless style, bringing depth and authenticity to every piece. Combined with thoughtful tailoring and practical detailing, each jacket and coat is designed to improve with age, developing a lived-in appeal rather than wearing out quickly.

Timeless Style for Town and Country

Classic outerwear never feels out of place, and that’s exactly what makes it so enduring. Our men's jackets and coats are designed to transition effortlessly between country walks, daily commutes, weekends away and smarter occasions. With clean silhouettes, versatile colours, quality construction and enduring craftsmanship, every piece offers understated style that remains relevant year after year. These are coats made to fit naturally into everyday life.

What types of men's jackets and coats does Jack Murphy offer?

Our collection includes men's wax jackets, waterproof outerwear, tweed jackets, quilted gilets and coats, and classic wool coats. Each style is designed to offer lasting comfort, weather protection, durability, versatility and timeless style for everyday wear.

What’s the difference between wax and waterproof jackets?

Wax jackets naturally repel light rain and block the wind whilst developing a characterful patina over time. Waterproof jackets use specialist fabrics and sealed seams to provide greater protection during sustained rainfall, making them better suited to wet weather conditions.

Are men's wax jackets suitable for everyday wear?

Yes. Men's wax jackets are incredibly versatile and are designed for daily use. They pair comfortably with casual and smarter clothing, making them suitable for everything from commuting and walking to weekends in the countryside.

Which jacket is best for year-round wear?

The best jacket for year-round wear depends on how and where you plan to use it. A lightweight waterproof jacket is ideal for wet, changeable weather, whilst a wax jacket offers breathable protection and develops character over time. For cooler months, a tweed coat or wool coat can provide extra warmth and a smarter finish.

Choosing a style with room for layering, a comfortable fit, quality construction and practical weather-resistant features will give you the most flexibility across the seasons.

Are men's tweed jackets suitable for both casual and smarter occasions?

Yes. Men's tweed jackets work well across a wide range of settings thanks to their classic tailoring and natural wool texture. They can be worn with jeans and boots for a relaxed country look or paired with trousers and shirts for smarter occasions.

Are waterproof coats breathable enough for regular wear?

Yes. Our waterproof coats are designed to protect against rain whilst remaining comfortable for day-to-day use. Breathable fabrics help reduce overheating, making them suitable for walking, commuting and active outdoor wear.
