Albano Morgado Wool Heritage
Founded in 1927 in the heart of Portugal, Albano Morgado began with just two wooden looms and has grown into one of Europe’s most respected wool manufacturers. Over nearly a century, the mill has survived political upheaval, a revolution, and decades of dictatorship, remaining family-run and dedicated to its craft. By the early 1970s, the company became a vertically integrated mill, bringing spinning, weaving, dyeing, and finishing under one roof for complete control of quality. Although their fabrics were produced exclusively for the Portuguese market for decades, Albano Morgado began exporting globally in the 1980s, earning recognition for their exceptional craftsmanship.
We partner with Albano Morgado for their heritage and expertise in developing quality heavyweight, high-density fabrics designed to withstand the elements. Traditionally, these tightly woven wool fabrics were trusted by Portuguese shepherds seeking shelter from wind, rain, and cold, making them perfectly suited for life outdoors. Today, the Navy Melton embodies centuries of craftsmanship and has been adapted for modern living, offering warmth, structure, and durability in a refined finish that reflects Jack Murphy’s commitment to timeless style, design, performance, and quality.
