Best selling waterproof, wax, and tweed jackets for men and women

Men's Luxury

Luxury in outerwear is rarely about ornament. It shows in the weight of the cloth, the way a coat holds its shape after a season of wear, and the fact that the lining is still intact years after you bought it. Jack Murphy's luxury menswear collection is built on that understanding, bringing together our finest fabrics and most considered construction.

The range draws on premium natural materials sourced from heritage mills, including waxed cotton from Halley Stevensons in Dundee, wool tweed from Abraham Moon & Sons in Yorkshire and traditional Donegal tweed. You will find tweed coats, wool coats and wax jackets among the collection.

Every piece is designed in Ireland with an emphasis on longevity rather than seasonal turnover. These are luxury men's coats and jackets meant to be worn regularly and kept for years, developing character through use in a way that disposable outerwear never manages.

Fabrics From Heritage Mills

Quality begins with the cloth, which is why we work with mills that have been perfecting their craft for well over a century. Halley Stevensons has been waxing cotton in Dundee since 1864, and Abraham Moon & Sons has woven wool in Yorkshire since 1837. Donegal tweed carries its own distinctive flecked character, produced by a spinning process specific to the region.

These fabrics are chosen for handle, colour depth and durability rather than cost. Waxed cotton develops a patina unique to its wearer, while wool tweed softens and settles with age, so both improve rather than deteriorate over time.

Construction Made to Last

Premium fabric is wasted without construction to match. Our luxury pieces use considered seam work, secure fastenings, durable linings and hardware selected to survive years of regular use, because the weak points in outerwear are almost always the details rather than the cloth.

Practical features are built in rather than added on. Pockets sit where you actually need them, cuffs adjust properly, and there is room to layer knitwear underneath without the coat pulling across the shoulders.

Designed in Ireland for Life Outdoors

Designing luxury men's outerwear in Ireland means designing for weather that changes several times a day. Our collections are shaped by that reality, balancing warmth, water resistance and breathability rather than optimising for a single condition.

The result is luxury menswear that earns its place through use rather than being reserved for occasions. Explore the complete men's collection for the full range, or browse men's jackets and coats to see the outerwear together.

What makes an item of menswear luxury?

Luxury in outerwear comes from material quality and construction rather than branding. Cloth woven at established mills, durable linings and hardware, considered tailoring and detailing designed for practical use all contribute to a garment that performs and lasts.

Which mills does Jack Murphy work with?

We source fabrics from heritage mills including Halley Stevensons in Dundee for waxed cotton, Abraham Moon & Sons in Yorkshire for wool tweed, and traditional Donegal weavers in Ireland.

Where is Jack Murphy menswear designed?

All of our menswear is designed in Ireland, with collections shaped around the changeable weather found across Ireland and Britain rather than a single set of conditions.

Is luxury men's outerwear practical for everyday wear?

Yes, and it's arguably where it makes the most sense. Better cloth and construction stand up to daily use, and natural materials such as waxed cotton and wool tweed develop character with wear rather than looking worn out.

What is waxed cotton and why is it used in luxury outerwear?

Waxed cotton is densely woven cotton impregnated with a wax finish, giving natural wind and shower resistance. It is valued for its durability and for the patina it develops over time, which makes each jacket distinct to its owner.

How should I care for premium natural fabrics?

Brush wool and tweed regularly and dry naturally, away from direct heat. Waxed cotton should be sponged with cold water (never machine-washed), and re-waxed periodically to maintain its water resistance.
