Woven in Yorkshire, Defined by Heritage

Abraham Moon & Sons has been producing tweed in Yorkshire since 1837, remaining one of the few mills to oversee the entire process in-house from raw wool through to finished cloth. That level of control is what gives the fabric its quality, consistency, character and depth of colour. Each Jack Murphy piece reflects that long-standing expertise, resulting in tweed that feels substantial, authentic and refined.

The Character of the Cloth

What sets Abraham Moon tweed fabric apart is its balance of structure and softness. Woven from pure wool, often in classic herringbone and country-inspired patterns, the fabric holds its shape whilst remaining comfortable to wear. This means each garment is structured enough for tailoring, yet easy enough for everyday use. It’s a fabric that performs as well as it looks, adapting naturally to both movement and environment.

Tailored for Modern Country Living

Although rooted in heritage craftsmanship, women’s Abraham Moon tweed is designed for how it’s worn today. Jackets are cut to layer easily, coats are shaped for both warmth and movement, and tailored pieces can be styled together or separately depending on the occasion. The collection lends itself to a complete look, from three-piece tweed suits to more relaxed combinations, offering versatility without losing its sense of refinement.

What is Abraham Moon tweed?

Abraham Moon tweed is a sustainable, British-made wool fabric produced by a historic Yorkshire mill established in 1837. Abraham Moon has lasted for almost two centuries due to its commitment to quality and its renowned textile excellence, which Jack Murphy and other high-profile customers such as 5-star hotels and even 10 Downing Street prize above all other suppliers.

Why is Abraham Moon tweed fabric considered high quality?

Known for its quality and durability, Abraham Moon tweed fabric is woven using traditional techniques alongside modern processes to ensure consistency and performance. The mill controls every stage of production from dyeing to weaving and finishing, resulting in a fabric that’s durable, well-structured and rich in colour and texture.
Abraham Moon employs master weavers, dyers, finishers and other professionals whose knowledge spans decades, and each cloth is vigorously tested for fibre content, durability, colour fastness and performance. Each of these certified batches can then be verified using their unique traceability numbers, allowing us to confirm the exact origin and quality specifications of your garment.

Is tweed suitable for everyday wear?

Yes, tweed is highly practical for regular use. It’s naturally durable, breathable and resistant to wear, making it well suited to both outdoor and everyday settings.

How do you style women’s tweed pieces?

Tweed can be worn as a full coordinated look or styled more casually. Pair a tweed blazer with denim for a relaxed outfit, or wear matching trousers and waistcoat for a more tailored finish.

How do I care for Abraham Moon tweed?

Brush garments regularly to remove dust and maintain the fabric’s surface. Spot clean where needed, and dry clean for a deeper clean to preserve structure and finish. Store on sturdy hangers to help maintain shape over time
