Wool does something no synthetic fibre manages quite as well. Its crimped fibres trap air, creating insulation that keeps you warm without excessive bulk, and the natural lanolin in the fleece gives tweed genuine resistance to light rain and damp. It also breathes, so you stay comfortable moving between a cold street and a warm room.

Woven at Heritage Mills

The quality of a tweed coat begins at the loom. We work with mills that have been weaving wool for generations, selecting cloth for its handle, its colour depth and its durability rather than its cost. Abraham Moon & Sons has been weaving in Yorkshire since 1837, while Donegal tweed carries the flecked, multi-tonal character that comes from its distinctive spinning process.

Those fabrics are then cut and finished with practical detailing, from functioning pockets to considered linings, producing coats that feel substantial without being heavy. It's the difference between a coat that looks good on a hanger and one that performs season after season.
